Parkrun in Sussex
Brighton and its surroudning areas is a runners paradise, with its flat seaside scenery and surrounding rolling hills, it provides the perfect backdrop for all levels of runners. Here's a rundown of some of Brighton's most popular parkruns:
Hove Promenade Parkrun: Seaside sprints a plenty
Located just 10 minutes away from the conference venue, this flat and fast course runs along the iconic Hove seafront. Our BrightonSEO Run group normally jog along this course on the morning of day one of the conference (link to sign up?). It's flat, busy and you're sure to spot a celeb or two taking part too. Brighton & Hove Parkrun (Hove Park): The keyword to your running regimen
Brighton & Hove Parkrun, situated in Hove Park, is a slightly curvier course compared to Hove Promenade, with its undulating terrain and beautiful views across the park. This 5km run is a great option if you want to mix up the flat with a few small hills, all on solid path. It's a great place to go if it's windy on the seafront too! Hove Park parkrun
Preston Park Parkrun: Where speed and strategy collide
Another very popular park run in Brighton & Hove, located in Preston Park, is just a short bus ride or a solid 30-minute walk from the Brighton Centre. The sea of high-viz heroes is on hand to ensure you don't run into one of the bollards at the start, following a smooth tarmac, mainly flat course (with a short sharp hill) followed by a lovely long descent. Strategically situated with a mix of open spaces and tree-lined paths, Preston Park parkrun is a great space to relax after a busy week of learning!
Bevendean Down Parkrun: Step up your game with optimised footwear
One of the hilliest parkruns in the country and regularly attracting low numbers, if you love trails, beautiful views and a bit of a challenge, this is the parkrun for you in Sussex. For those staying in the city centre, take the number 49 bus and stop near the Bevy (great food after1) and follow the other runners walking up to Bevendean Down. Bevendean Down parkrun
East Brighton Parkrun: The Off-Page Haven
A lovely off-road course with a few cheeky hills thrown in to test you, the East Brighton parkrun volunteers are some of the friendliest around. Just watch out from above... if there's an emergency at the hospital, the helicopter lands in the middle of the field! East Brighton parkrun
